Position: Full-Time Research Assistant at the NBER (remote option available)

Description of Job Responsibilities:

Jessica Van Parys (Hunter College), Becky Staiger (Stanford), and Nicole Maestas (Harvard) would like to employ a full-time research assistant (RA) with a start date around June 2022. The RA will work on a health economics project related to racial/ethnic health disparities in the Medicaid population. The project will utilize the Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) Analytic Files (TAF) housed at the NBER. We are looking for a 40 hour/week commitment from June 2022 – May 2023. The RA will be responsible for cleaning and constructing analytic data sets from the TAF data, as well as generating summary statistics, graphics, and regression results. The RA will work directly with Jessica and Becky, and the team will meet weekly to review goals and progress. The RA will be a full-time employee of the NBER with a competitive compensation and benefits package. We will consider anyone who meets the following requirements and who resides in the U.S.*

Required Background:

The prospective applicant should have completed an undergraduate degree in economics, math, statistics, or computer programming, and have advanced programming skills in Stata, R, and/or SAS. We will also consider applicants who will graduate in 2022. Ideally the applicant has had some research experience, has a demonstrated interest in health economics, and wants to pursue a research career. Knowledge of LaTeX, Unix, and/or applied econometrics is a plus.

Location: NBER in Cambridge, MA (with remote option)

Salary: $52,000 (plus benefits)
